Adelaide's Horror My Friend had a big year last year following the release of their debut LP Stay in, Do Nothing. They toured with the likes of Hockey Dad, Pity Sex, Columbus, played Poison City's Weekender and played Yours & Owls Festival. They have just released their first song of the year 'DIYS' and will be touring the country to launch the single including playing at our First Birthday Party! Tour dates here.

Stay In, Do Nothing was personally one of my favourite releases of 2016 and was curious to see what their favourite releases of 2016 were.

DIIV - Is The Is Are

This is 100% my favourite release of the year. There is not a bad song on this album, the production is fantastic and the guitar work is both technical and actually really beautiful. I don't think anyone, including myself, expected DIIV to bring out a record this good after the controversy that has surrounded the band over the last few years.

No Sister - Self Titled

This album was a complete surprise for me. While we were touring with Pity Sex earlier in the year, Josh and I went into a random record store in Melbourne (not Poison City soz m8s) and this record was playing over the stereo system. Josh and I bought the album after 10 mins in the store. It's no secret that we love Sonic Youth, and No Sister are Australia's answer to SY.

Camp Cope - Self Titled

This has appeared on every fkn top record list of the year and for good reason. Our label-m8s, Camp Cope's record is an extremely important record in so many ways, both musically and socially. Not only is this record objectively one of the best records of 2016, what Camp Cope have achieved throughout the year with this album is nothing other than amazing. Georgia, Thommo and Kelly have created and released an unbelievable record this year and used it to push Australia forward in regards to equality (gender and otherwise), within the music scene and the wider socio-political landscape of Australia. This has been particularly important in a year which has scene much of the Western world take enormous steps backwards in the form of Trump, Brexit and more. Well done legends.
