PREMIERE: SPIRIT BUNNY

SPIRIT BUNNY LP
Written by Chris Langenberg
20.04.2017

Arriving brashly via circuit-bent Casio keyboards and buzzing Commodore 64 synths, Brisbane experimental pop three-piece Spirit Bunny today release their cacophonous self-titled debut LP. The band has been together since 2013 and the debut LP is a strong representation of their manic live sets. The record contains a combination of high energy, frenzied synths and chaotic drums that have been masterfully articulated to make great songs with pop formats. Recorded by drummer Cam Smith (Incremental Records) Spirit Bunny have created a record that despite the lack of guitars, bears lots in common with noise-guitar-pop bands and dark-synth-wave groups alike. However, it is hard to draw comparisons to any other record that I have heard for a long time and while the sounds can be anarchic at times, this LP is such a strong and exciting set of songs to come out of this Brisbane band.

Make sure you see one of Spirit Bunny's electrifying sets on their upcoming tour which is kicking off tonight at Canberra's Lowbrow Gallery.

Spirit Bunny are kicking off their six-date LP tour tonight at Canberra's Lobrow Gallery to be followed by shows in Sydney, Melbourne, Wollongong, Adelaide and Brisbane.
