PREMIERE:
CHAKRA EFENDI
After some time off towards the end of 2018, young Brisbane sweetheart Chakra Efendi is back with a fresh music video for his latest single, Mia.
By personifying mental illness and referencing his struggles, Chakra draws attention to the physical and mental that mental illness can cause. The video stylistically follows this theme, as Chakra is plagued and abused by an eerie girl by whom we see him beat, stuffed in the boot of a car and stalked, all while looking extra fly in a David Byrne like suit.
Director Tom Carroll’s work has been steadily developing over the last year, after working on videos like Harmon’s A New Colour and Good Boy’s CRF. This latest video keeps to the same vein, as skilful editing, creative concepts and a tasteful use of alternate camera equipment match Chakra’s polished-DIY production aesthetic.
Check out the new video below, and keep an eye out for Chakra’s next EP Before the Children Grow Old on March 1st and his EP launch show at The Yamaha with Felivand and Olivia’s World on March 15th.
