British India are no strangers to selling out shows around Australia with the Melbourne based band still riding on the success of their 5th studio album Nothing Touches Me. The four school friends from Melbourne began penning this album in 2014 after the successful release of their 4th album Controller. 'Brindia' are no strangers to success with Nothing Touches Me clocking in as their 4th album in a row to chart in the top 10 of the ARIA Charts.

With support from budding rock trio Future Haunts and Brissy favourites Babaganouj, British India were sure to set The Zoo on fire with a powerful set. This was my first time at a British India concert, however I'd been a fan sine the release of Controller back in 2013. My mates had always urged me to get along to on of their concerts and I’m glad they persisted, because I don't think you can truly grasp Brindia until you catch a live set. I was so blown away by the enormity of Declan Melia's voice, it was as if I was listening to a studio recording, but better. Incredibly tight guitars and drums, courtesy of Nic Wilson, Will Drummond and Matt O’Gorman, matched this.

The Zoo was absolutely alight with grinning faces moshing along to a set list full of favourites new and old. Spider Chords and Summer Forgive Me had me absolutely captivated and by the end of their set I was certain I'd never miss a British India show in Brisbane again. To top off an excellent night, the Brindia boys invited members of Future Haunts, Babaganouj and even Robbie and myself to smash out their own rendition of Rage Against the Machine's Killing In The Name Of. A song that, I'm sure most of you already know, is impossible not to sing/scream along too. The result of this was many crowd members mistook the support acts presence as other crowd members and took it upon themselves to join in. This did create a heightened atmosphere but also posed as a bit of a risk to band members and equipment so that was a little concerning. However by the end of it, regardless of potential risk, everyone involved felt reborn chanting the words "fuck you I won't do what you tell me!". This didn't help with authority but was the icing on the cake of what was an amazing set, filled to the brim with intensity.

After the set we sat down for a quick cigarette with the boys and asked Declan as to what he thinks will be next for British India. He answered with an understandable tone of exhaustion and simply said, "I don't know, probably just write" and with that the excitement builds for album number 6 and we can't wait until the next time they're in Brisbane.
